Very happy to see this paper “Host genotype-enriched rhizosphere microbes enhance pea (Pisum sativum L.) yield” published in Plant and Soil. We isolated two representative bacterial strains, Agrobacterium salinitolerans S1 and Neobacillus drentensis S2, from a high-yield pea genotype and found that both exhibited multiple plant growth–promoting traits in vitro. When reintroduced into the rhizosphere of a low-yield genotype, both strains significantly enhanced plant growth and grain yield under greenhouse conditions, with co-inoculation producing stronger effects than single-strain treatments.

After a long submission journey, including several rounds of rejection and resubmission, this paper “Multiple hypervariable markers improve mycobiome classification in metatranscriptome and metagenome data” was finally published in Communications Biology. Many congratulations to Haihua and all co-authors!

Very happy to see this paper “Sustainable intensification with winter crops stimulates soil nitrogen availability and microbially-mediated N cycling but does not result in substantial benefits to subsequent corn” published in Biology and Fertility of Soils. We found that replacing fallow with winter cover crops provided limited benefits to subsequent corn yields, but significantly altered microbially mediated N transformations.
